SURROUNDINGS

Mar Acuatic Resort has its workplace in one of the most beautiful areas of southeastern Spain. It is located in the charming seaside town of Los Alcázares, right on the seafront of the Mar Menor and only five minutes away from the Murcia-San Javier airport.

Among the natural beauties and noteworthy spots near to the residence we can include the following ones:

The Mar Menor is a salty lagoon that counts with 42 km of beach and an average depth of 4 meters. It is separated from the Mediterranean Sea by a narrow piece of land called La Manga Strip (‘La Manga del Mar Menor’) and connected to it by different channels often referred as ‘golas’. The calmness of the waters enclosed – with hardly any swell -, the mildness of its temperatures with an annual average of 20 degrees Celsius, the amount of sunny days per year (more than 300), or the many sandy beaches found along its coast, make it the ideal place for all sorts of nautical activities.

In close proximity to M.A.R. participants can find other interesting zones to visit that will enrich their stay at our center.

One of them is Cabo de Palos, which is located just 27 kilometers away from M.A.R. to the south of La Manga del Mar Menor. This populated tourist area is home of a large number of hotel services, malls, recreational areas and nightlife activity. Being traditionally a fishing village, Cabo de Palos is today a place where to taste a unique cuisine, to go shopping to its many quirky shops, or to enjoy the animated nightlife. Moreover, the coasts of this town are known for having one of the most spectacular seabeds and a rich marine biodiversity.

At about the same distance, we find the Calblanque Regional Park, a great example of environmental conservation – in this case of the Mediterranian coast – where visitors can gaze miles of unspoilt beaches, as well as clean and clear waters.

On the other hand, in the town of San Pedro del Pinatar there is an awe inspiring collection of salt flats and salt banks that represent one of the last untouched areas along the Mediterranean coastline.

As for nearby urban areas, the city of Cartagena is twenty minutes away by motorway. Its impressive historical character makes it a real living museum of the Mediterranean. It offers the visitors an extensive cultural agenda, that includes from the ruins of a very well-preserved Roman theatre to the big commercial shopping centers. Another big cultural reference of southeastern Spain is the beautiful Murcia, the capital city of the province, located 60 km away by motorway.
